Sometimes getting to Byron isn't worth the effort. Scorching heat, standstill traffic and the beckon of an attractive stop-off all meant a diversion to the as-yet unvisited refuge of Brunswick Heads was on the cards.
A beach break doesn't normally translate to coffee. But we were in luck today. Table View Specialty Coffee (a bold claim, but people don't make it unless they think they can back it up... at least, so far) in Brunswick Heads, Queensland is a little oasis serving up specialty coffee from Marvell St Coffee Roasters in Byron Bay. They have blends and single origins available in pour-overs, espresso drinks and cold brew, as well as other drinks for a hot day (pictured: a cold-pressed watermelon, mint and lime juice).
Table View is also cashing in on another of the latest trends - cáscara tea. Made from the husk (cáscara is Spanish for husk) of the coffee cherry, this specialty ice tea provides a mild caffeine hit as well as a sweetly tart, refreshing drink. In this case they had sweetened the drink with honey which is not strictly necessary.
Ambience at Table View is pretty nice. Inside is standard 'cool' coffee shop, with lighting only from the front. It was too close to closing time to see how lively it gets.
But anyway, it was cozy on a hot summer's day. Definitely stop by if you're in the area.
